San Antonio is challenging federal plans connected to immigration enforcement at two separate sites: a proposed ICE detention-and-processing facility in an East Side warehouse and office leases at the Brooks redevelopment on the Southeast Side. The city sued DHS and ICE over the warehouse project, alleging the federal government did not complete a required environmental review. On October 15, City Council approved a resolution directing city staff to explore legal and administrative avenues to prevent or delay the facility and, after an amendment, the Brooks leases.

The Bexar County Elections Office temporarily closed its public-facing operations on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 15–16, so staff could process election materials before early voting. The closure came ahead of the Nov. 3, 2026 general election, with early voting scheduled to begin Monday, Oct. 19. Online voter resources and a phone message line remained available while the office processed the backlog.

The Savannah Bananas are a Banana Ball team whose baseball entertainment format emphasizes fan-oriented rules and on-field entertainment. San Antonio has previously hosted other Banana Ball teams: the Texas Tailgaters hosted the Party Animals in 2025 and the Loco Beach Coconuts in 2026 at Nelson Wolff Stadium. The 2027 dates will be the Bananas’ first visit to San Antonio.

Kerrville City Council has approved a conditional use permit for the city’s first The Texan Store, a regional Texas travel-stop chain positioned as a competitor to Buc-ee’s. The proposed truck stop and fuel station would sit on 12.4315 acres at Highway 16 North and Interstate 10, near Sidney Baker Street North. The site is largely within the planned Whiskey Springs development district, a luxury golf-resort and residential project.

Cowboys Dancehall was a San Antonio country-music and nightlife venue that had operated for more than 20 years. The venue announced on October 9 that it had closed, saying construction around its longtime location had made operations increasingly difficult. A representative later said landlord-related legal negotiations were also among the factors behind the decision, while leaving open the possibility of a future return.

Federal investigators allege an X account that uploaded suspected child sexual abuse material was tied through IP and email-account records to Yanez, his residence and the district technology building. The reporting describes a federal criminal complaint, meaning the allegations remain unadjudicated; the available reports say he had not been indicted as of October 14.
