The I-24 Southeast Choice Lanes project is a Tennessee Department of Transportation plan to add two optional, user-fee Choice Lanes in each direction between Nashville and Murfreesboro while retaining existing general-purpose lanes. South Nashville neighborhood group 16th United is organizing residents’ concerns that interstate construction and detours could compound existing safety and mobility problems on nearby state roads. Residents met on October 15 to identify and prioritize requests before presenting them to TDOT.

Joseph Brock is a blind senior at Austin Peay State University studying sports communication with a broadcast-announcing concentration. In 2023, Brock worked with Austin Peay staff to add accessibility features at the campus radio station and production equipment. He now says the cancellation of transportation arranged through Tennessee’s Vocational Rehabilitation program has left him unable to reliably travel from Cross Plains to campus for hands-on studio coursework.

Banana Ball, the fast-paced baseball entertainment format associated with the Savannah Bananas, announced its 2027 tour on Oct. 15, 2026. The tour is scheduled to include games in Mexico and Canada as well as stops at major league, college football and NFL venues. Nashville previously hosted the Bananas at the current Nissan Stadium in 2025, when organizers said attendance reached 70,000.

Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett’s office responded on October 14 to a viral claim that any marking made by a poll worker automatically disqualifies a ballot. State officials said administrative notations do not by themselves invalidate Tennessee ballots, while advising voters to seek answers from election authorities rather than social-media rumors. The response came as early voting opened for Tennessee’s November 3 general election and was scheduled to continue through October 29.

Murfreesboro Municipal Airport is holding its fifth annual STEAM Fest in partnership with Discovery Center’s 10th annual Tennessee STEAM Festival. The free public event uses aviation, emergency-service equipment and hands-on activities to introduce science, technology, engineering, art and math. Tennessee STEAM Festival is an annual statewide October initiative involving schools, museums, universities, businesses and community organizations.

Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett said a suspicious package addressed to the State Division of Elections Office was intercepted before it reached the office. The report came amid a nationwide investigation by the FBI, U.S. Postal Inspection Service and U.S. Capitol Police into suspicious mailings, including ones sent to secretary of state and related election offices. Authorities had not publicly disclosed the package’s contents or identified anyone responsible.

George MacIntyre, a sophomore quarterback from Brentwood Academy, made his first career start in Tennessee’s Oct. 10 road win at Arkansas after Faizon Brandon was limited by a right-shoulder injury. Tennessee had not officially announced its starter as of Knox News’ Oct. 15 report, but a source told the outlet MacIntyre would make a second consecutive start.
