Allegiant Stadium, home to the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders and UNLV football, opened in 2020 with substantial public financing authorized under Nevada Senate Bill 1. Its north side is a major arrival point for people walking from the Las Vegas Strip over the Hacienda Avenue bridge, and stadium officials say that route has become congested during large events. The approved project is intended to improve pedestrian access, rideshare circulation and entry-area amenities before Las Vegas hosts Super Bowl LXIII in 2029.

The Las Vegas City Council adopted an ordinance on September 2, 2026, creating a local endorsement for qualifying restaurants to sell alcoholic drinks for off-premises consumption with meals. The policy implements authority granted by Nevada lawmakers in 2025 for municipalities to permit restaurant alcohol-to-go sales. Restaurants must already hold on-premises alcohol licenses to seek the endorsement.

Amazon-owned Zoox has operated in Las Vegas since 2019 and began employee-only airport testing at Harry Reid International Airport in April 2026. The company subsequently launched paid public rides in Las Vegas in August, and the airport route extends service between the Strip-area network and both airport terminals. Airport access is significant because Zoox is described as the first fully driverless robotaxi service operating at LAS.

Monument Hills is a proposed 940-acre mixed-use master-planned development in Las Vegas Ward 6, designed to combine housing with commercial space, parks, open space and public facilities. The City of Las Vegas had previously described the project as including roughly 350 housing units for military personnel connected to nearby Nellis and Creech Air Force bases. In late August, Olympia Companies purchased the property through the city after the city acquired it from the Bureau of Land Management; officials announced the finalized conveyance on September 2.

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), an investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security, has been directed to pursue a coordinated voter-fraud initiative in nine states, including Nevada. Reporting says the operation includes investigative leads, field interviews and prosecutorial review through mid-October, while Nevada election officials said they had not been notified of new investigations. The initiative follows DHS claims about possible noncitizens on voter rolls, claims Nevada’s secretary of state has called speculative and for which underlying evidence has not been publicly detailed.

Clark County, Nevada’s Elections Department is changing its in-person voting workflow for the 2026 general election. Rather than casting directly after making selections, in-person voters will mark their choices, print and review a paper ballot, and scan it through a tabulator. The county frames the change as a new step while retaining a three-part process: check in, mark and print, then scan to cast.

Southwest Gas has a Nevada general rate case pending before the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN). The company said in May that it sought approximately $71 million in additional Nevada revenue and expected new rates to take effect in October 2026. A subsequent KTNV investigation reported a roughly $66 million request and scrutiny by the Nevada Attorney General’s Bureau of Consumer Protection (BCP) of expenses the utility proposed recovering from customers.
