Nebraska voters approved a medical-cannabis program nearly two years before the October 15, 2026 hearing, but the state’s rollout remains incomplete. The Nebraska Medical Cannabis Commission has permanent regulations in effect and is separately pursuing amendments governing fees, licensing and manufacturer rules. State materials anticipate the amended rules could take effect in early 2027, while advocates argue patient access may take substantially longer.
A cold front was expected to bring the coolest air of the season to eastern Nebraska on the night of Oct. 16 into the morning of Oct. 17. The National Weather Service forecast for Omaha called for a low near 33 degrees and widespread frost after 5 a.m. Friday night, continuing before 8 a.m. Saturday. The forecast created a risk for frost-sensitive outdoor plants, while a University of Nebraska climate outlook said a light freeze was likely across much of the state.

Omaha’s Charles Schwab Field, home of the College World Series, is scheduled to host the Party Animals and Firefighters for two games in 2027. Ticket access will be handled through a lottery rather than general guaranteed sales.
LOVB Nebraska is a professional women’s volleyball team based in Omaha and an inaugural member of LOVB Pro. The club named Giannis Athanasopoulos its head coach for 2026-27 in June after his successful run at Hungary’s Vasas Óbuda.
