A three-alarm structure fire broke out near the intersection of Second and Hill streets in Old Louisville on September 2. Reporting says the blaze began in a boarded-up vacant building designated a dangerous property, spread to a neighboring apartment building, and led to street blockages as fire crews worked the scene.
Jonathan Cooper’s Shepherdsville residence on 5th Avenue had been fortified with sandbags, barbed wire and other materials, drawing neighbor complaints about safety and sanitation. WLKY reports that the city adopted a property-maintenance code in 2023 and that the home entered foreclosure in 2024. The city ultimately acquired the property through a Master Commissioner’s sale and demolition occurred on September 1, 2026.
Francis Parker School in Goshen, Oldham County, Kentucky, held a “Dolly Day” celebration centered on Dolly Parton’s music and philanthropic legacy. The school highlighted Parton’s Imagination Library, which distributes books to children, as well as her ties to Kentucky. WDRB+WAVE reported that the event followed Parton’s passing, though the persisted evidence contains only that outlet’s reporting on the broader death claim.
