Jeffrey Weisheit was sentenced to death in 2013 for the 2010 killings of Alyssa and Caleb Lynch in an Evansville house fire; he was also convicted of arson. The Indiana Supreme Court set his execution for Nov. 5, 2026, and the Indiana Parole Board is conducting clemency proceedings that will result in a recommendation to Gov. Mike Braun. Braun has the final authority to grant or deny commutation.
Eligible voters within the Indianapolis Public Schools boundary will decide a Nov. 3 operating-referendum question covering IPS and participating public charter schools for up to four years. The Indianapolis Public Education Corporation (IPEC), created in 2026 with levying authority for schools in the IPS boundary, approved the proposed rate after the prior IPS operating-referendum rate was set to expire in December. The measure is presented by school officials as a key source of operating support amid IPS budget cuts and projected financial pressure.
The Indy Art Center’s 9.5-acre ArtsPark in Broad Ripple combines outdoor sculpture, landscape and access to the White River and Monon Trail. The park, which first opened in 2005 and was designed as an extension of Michael Graves’ Indy Art Center building, had been undergoing a roughly $3.7 million renovation. August flooding delayed its planned September reopening and required cleanup, repairs and replacement landscaping.
The Indianapolis Colts signed linebacker Germaine Pratt to their practice squad on Tuesday, Oct. 13, returning the veteran to the team after he started 12 games for Indianapolis in 2025. Pratt has extensive familiarity with defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, having played for him with both the Bengals and Colts. The move comes as the Colts seek more consistency and veteran leadership in a linebacker group affected by injuries and uneven early-season play.

Punjab Property sought to rezone roughly 10 acres on Combs Road in Franklin Township on Indianapolis’s south side. The site includes one of the area’s few remaining wetlands, which advocates say helps filter pollutants, support wildlife, and absorb stormwater. The company had planned a repair shop and parking for large trucks, but withdrew its rezoning petition after organized opposition and unresolved requested studies.
