Billy Adams III, a Tampa rapper who performs as Ace NH, was prosecuted for the January 2023 killing of 22-year-old Alana Sims in New Tampa while she was pregnant. Sims was found shot beside her vehicle in the Easton Park subdivision; her young child was inside the vehicle and unharmed. Florida law permits the death of an unborn child caused by injury to the mother to be charged separately, and the jury’s sentencing recommendations are not the final sentence.

The City of Tampa’s South Howard Flood Relief Project is intended to reduce chronic flooding around South Howard Avenue, West Swann Avenue, Parkland Estates and Palma Ceia Pines. Stephen Walker resigned immediately on Aug. 14 after Bartow officials confronted him about an employee complaint that a preliminary inquiry had found "credible and concerning."
