A 2003 Honda CR-V left Pine Hills Road, crossed the median and northbound lanes, and struck Tattle Tales Learning Center in Pine Hills on the afternoon of October 15. Three 4-year-old children, the SUV driver and a day-care adult were hospitalized; the crash remained under Florida Highway Patrol investigation. Orange County found the damaged building unsafe for occupancy.
Titusville police responded to a well-being check at Timmy Eady’s residence on Cheney Highway on Tuesday night, October 13. Police say Eady answered the door holding a rifle, did not comply with commands to drop it, and an officer fired once, striking him in the shoulder. Eady later surrendered after a roughly 20-minute barricade situation; the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is independently reviewing the shooting and the case is to be referred to the State Attorney’s Office.
Britt Road near Mount Dora in Lake County has been impassable since Hurricane Milton washed out more than 100 feet of the roadway in 2024. Lake County’s reconstruction required property acquisition, permitting and coordination with FDOT because the road is a Federal Aid Highway. The rebuilt corridor includes drainage improvements, paved shoulders and a restriction on trucks over 10 tons, subject to local-delivery and other stated exemptions.
Michael Jones, a teaching assistant at East Ridge High School in Clermont, was arrested by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office following an alleged physical altercation with a student with special needs. Local reports citing the arrest affidavit say video evidence from school surveillance and another student’s cellphone was reviewed. Lake County Schools said Jones is barred from returning to campus while the district pursues termination.
Sanford police announced on October 15, 2026, that DNA testing and forensic genetic genealogy identified remains found in a wooded area in 1997 as those of an Orlando man reported missing that year. The identification resolves the victim’s identity but not the killing; police say the homicide investigation remains active.
A cold front approaching Central Florida is expected to raise rain and thunderstorm coverage on Friday before crossing the region Saturday. Behind it, cooler air and persistent northeasterly winds are forecast to bring coastal and marine hazards through the weekend and into early next week.

The third-quarter report identified incidents at six attractions, while SeaWorld Orlando, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, and Legoland Florida reported none.
