Duval County Public Schools is investigating reports of unsupervised and inappropriate behavior, on and off campus, involving student-athletes at Fletcher High School in Neptune Beach. The district says Fletcher’s girls volleyball coach was removed while it separately investigates concerns involving the former coach. Action News Jax, citing unnamed sources, reported that the matter may be linked to suspected hazing, but the district has not publicly characterized the alleged conduct as hazing.
The Chick-fil-A at 7147 Philips Highway near Butler Boulevard/JTB in Jacksonville closed after an early-morning kitchen fire on June 9, 2026. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue said the fire appeared electrical; the kitchen and drive-thru sustained damage, and the operator said no one was injured.

Jacksonville University is participating in CyberJaxAI-PATH: Cyber AI Pathways for K-12 Education, a federally funded regional effort to build artificial-intelligence and cybersecurity education pathways in Duval County.
