The U.S. Department of Justice awarded Arizona’s Department of Public Safety a $28,431,056 federal Victims of Crime Act formula grant. Arizona DPS is to distribute the funding through subgrants to local community organizations and public agencies serving crime victims. Eligible services cited by the U.S. Attorney’s Office include crisis counseling, referrals, criminal-justice support and shelter.
DM50 is a nonprofit volunteer organization that supports Davis-Monthan Air Force Base personnel and their families through fundraising, advocacy and community partnerships. Its 2026 Salute to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base directed fundraising toward planned upgrades at the Landing Community Center, a base facility used for activities, events, gatherings and rentals. The proposed work includes recreation, children’s, event and dining spaces intended to improve daily life for Airmen and military families.
The Tohono O’odham Nation sued the Department of Homeland Security in June to halt plans for 62 miles of border barriers through its Arizona reservation. The Nation argues that construction near the international boundary would unlawfully alter reservation boundaries established by Congress, while DHS has said it intends to continue planning and construction while coordinating with tribal stakeholders. A later Tucson Star social post says DHS told a federal court that the proposed double-layered wall would not trespass on the Nation.

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes filed a consumer-fraud lawsuit against OpenAI in Maricopa County Superior Court on October 14, 2026. The state alleges that OpenAI misrepresented ChatGPT’s safety and used design and marketing practices that endangered minors; these remain allegations in a pending civil case. Arizona was among several states that filed separate consumer-protection cases against OpenAI that week.
Marana junior Jeffrey Smith III is a two-way running back/linebacker for the Tigers. His standout performance came in Marana’s 54-7 road victory over Casa Grande on October 9, part of a stretch in which the Tigers won four of five games. The performance earned Smith an Arizona Week 8 Ed Doherty Award medallion, placing him in the pool for the state’s annual high-school-football honor.
