James Casady Cangro, 46, was housed at the minimum-security satellite camp adjacent to the Federal Correctional Complex in Tucson. Prison staff spotted him near the visitor parking lot at about 8:10 a.m. on September 2; he ran toward Wilmot Road and was later apprehended by deputy U.S. marshals near the facility. He remains in federal custody and is expected to face additional proceedings related to the escape.

Bisbee High School in Bisbee, Arizona, received a law-enforcement response on September 2 after staff found a suspicious bathroom message suggesting an event might occur that day. Bisbee police, Cochise County sheriff’s deputies and federal partners increased security while investigating. A separate report to the U.S. Border Patrol’s Brian A. Terry Station raised concern about a possible active shooter, but responding agencies found no active shooter or credible active threat. The investigation into who created the bathroom message remained ongoing in the cited reports.

The flooding killed two members of a three-person hiking group from Granbury, Texas, and caused extensive damage in the inner canyon, including to trails, footbridges and the Transcanyon Waterline.
